Huffington’s suggestion

A few days ago, I saw Ms. Huffington of The Huffington Post suggest to a talk show host that he should blog. Then she proceeded to explain that a blog is not perfect writing….it’s whatever comes to one’s mind. It’s supposed to be spontaneous. Okay! Now I get it. A spontaneous online journal of sorts…from my perspective.

When driving or otherwise occupied and away from the computer, my mind wanders about certain topics I might comment on. Hmmmm….teaching community college students, what it’s like to reach 60, semi-retirement, applying for social security, grandchildren, things that drive me crazy, why I keep wanting to start new things instead of get comfortable watching daytime TV in a recliner….on and on and on.

With a busy fall semester finished and holiday travels ahead, I ease into 2009 as an official blogger.

About jjmummert

Just another voice in the wilderness from someone who's lived on this planet for over 65 years and faces permanent residency on Planet Elderly. Update: As of March 2, 2017, I turned 70. I'm now an official resident of Planet Elderly. Dad passed away September 22, 2016. In late March 2017 I was able to move Mom closer to me where she resides at The Arbors at Mill Creek Village in Columbia, Missouri. I view the Parental Journal entries as part therapy, part family history, sort of a case study of our family's journey with dementia. It's quite an adventure. Recommended readings for others who have loved ones who live with some form of dementia: The 36-Hour Day; the website: https://www.agingcare.com/ ; https://www.alz.org/
